Operates equipment related to gas line installation and maintenance, including backhoe, dump truck, pavement breakers and other equipment. Works with gas customers to resolve gas-related concerns. Responds to emergency calls, including gas leaks, fires, broken gas lines, and evacuations. Locates gas lines, completes customer turn-on and turn-off orders, and adjusts new and existing gas appliances for customers to ensure safe, effective and efficient gas usage. Accurately completes job-related paperwork and maintains accurate records and reports. Participates in process improvements and effectively solves problems as a team.Perform other duties as requested or assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & ExperienceThe knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:The basic knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:Experience: 0-1 years related experience. Directly related experience may include construction, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other similar fields.Knowledge: Basic tools and materials used for repairs, maintenance and construction;Abilities: Communicate effectively orally and in writing; read and understand basic maps; interface effectively with customers and other company personnel; comprehend and apply basic math to add, subtract, multiply and divide;Physical Requirements: smell and detect burning materials, natural gas, hazardous substances such as solvents and toxic substances found in hazardous wastes; lift up to 100 pounds; twist; bend; kneel and work in tight spaces.After accepting this role, but prior to hire, the successful applicant will be required to successfully pass physical skills assessment, company and DOT drug test, and DOT medical evaluation.Education RequirementsRequired degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):High School Diploma or GEDPreferred Discipline(s): NAOther disciplines may be substituted for the preferred discipline(s) listed above.Licenses, Certifications, or Quals DescriptionWorking ConditionsCold 51-75%Heat 51-75%Radiation 51-75%Fumes 76-100%Outdoors 76-100%Travel 76- 100%Office Work Environment Up to 25%Other Working ConditionsRequired to work on-call, rotating shifts, overtime, and work on weekends and holidays, work in extreme cold or hot temperatures on uneven or slippery surfaces. Some areas involve alternative work schedules, including flexible 9 or 4/10-hour day work week. Involves work around live gas. Exposure to non-ionizing radiation from welding, flashes and sunburns. May involve close eye contact work. May require long periods of standing or walking. Occasional Out-of-town work and overnight may be required.After hire, employees in this job family are required to follow company safety practices and policies, including appropriate use of company provided personal protective equipment; become company qualified on plastic pipe fusion after attending company schooling; undergo random drug and/or alcohol testing with satisfactory results subject to DOT and company requirements; possess, or acquire within a reasonable amount of time, a commercial driver's license (CDL); obtain and maintain medical clearance to operate DOT-regulated vehicle, work with hazardous materials, and wear and properly use a respirator; comply with OSHA annual audiometric testing requirements; and become DOT operator-qualified.Test DescriptionNo Testing Required.Export ControlCertain positions at Dominion Energy may involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
